What a year it has been! As the world started to slowly emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic in the early part of the year, geopolitical tensions such as the war in Ukraine presented new challenges. As 2022 is now drawing to a close, households and businesses are grappling with the energy crisis, drastically reducing energy consumption to prevent shortages and blackouts. Forever optimistic here at DMI, we always endeavor to turn challenges into opportunities. And our team has seized every opportunity this year to spread the word about data migration, ending the year on a real high.

DMI has exciting growth plans ahead, and to help us along the way we have expanded our teams in the DACH region and the USA, set up a DMI office in the UK, and have also added South Africa and the Middle East to our target markets. Through our global presence, we’re well positioned to serve customers and partners around the world.

A Busy Calendar of 30+ Events

Conference organizers were happy to see the return of in-person events and DMI’s calendar soon filled up for 2022, with teams representing DMI as a sponsor, exhibitor, and visitor at events across Europe and the USA. After being held online for the last two years, DMI’s very own DigitalLounge welcomed industry thought leaders and pioneers to the hugely popular event in Kreuzlingen, and the first ever UK-based DigitalLounge was organized opening DMI up to a new audience. Having become accustomed to virtual events, some were still held online, including various webinars as well as a virtual book launch: tech expert and author Andreas Graesser introduced the latest book from DMI “JiVS One Click Transformation: Simplify the Move to SAP S/4HANA”. Since its launch in the fall, hundreds of copies have been distributed and the ebook version has been downloaded over 500 times.

Mingling With the SAP Community

As a major player in data migration, DMI is part of the SAP community, and supports SAP users, customers, and partners with data migration challenges. Over the year, DMI’s teams joined fellow SAP experts at numerous venues as a chance to network, catch up, and discuss the latest happenings and technologies in the SAP universe: SAP Sapphire in Orlando and Zurich, SAPinsider EMEA in Vienna, SAPinsider in Las Vegas, SAP Connect: Partner Summit in Hamburg, SAP CIO Summit in Zurich, DSAG in Leipzig, UKISUG in Birmingham, and ASUG in Houston. Our CMO Tom Pfister was also invited to speak at the SAP 50th anniversary celebrations in Walldorf, Germany, sharing the stage with high-profile figures including the software giant’s founders and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. With things ramping up for SAP S/4HANA, our role within the SAP community will become increasingly prominent as more companies start to get their data in order before making the move to the new world.

Hawle Goes Live With SAP S/4HANA in Record Time

One particular project that stands out was successfully implemented for Swiss-based Hawle Armaturen AG who had a very tight timeframe during which all of its data needed to be separated, cleansed, enriched, and migrated. By collaborating with DMI, Hawle was able to go live with SAP S/4HANA in record time – taking just three months – and proving how JiVS helps to radically speed up and simplify data migration projects.

Launch of a New Game-Changing Solution

This year also saw the launch of a new pioneering solution from DMI – the Data Reduction Potential Analysis or DRPA. Designed to simulate and visualize data reduction potential and massively reduce system analysis effort, it gives companies 100% transparency of their data. Working seamlessly with JiVS, it supports and simplifies greenfield and brownfield migration approaches.

Making Savings During the Energy Crisis

One of the many benefits of JiVS is its contribution towards cutting costs and energy consumption by enabling companies to switch off all their electricity-guzzling legacy systems. Reducing the digital footprint is an area we have really focused on this year with our customers, hammering home the importance of incorporating efficient data management into their sustainability strategy.

2022 is almost over and this is our final blog of the year. As we enjoy the festive season, we’ll also be looking ahead to 2023 and the projects and opportunities that it will bring. With an expanding team in place, DMI is ready to take on fresh challenges and will be on hand as the pace picks up with the conversion to SAP S/4HANA. And as sponsors of Hockey Club Davos, DMI has a few thrilling ice hockey matches to look forward to over the next few months as well!
