Digitalization and sustainability are two areas that businesses around the world are dealing with on a daily basis. Data Migration International is no stranger to either of these topics and was invited along to a recent UKISUG webinar for SAP users to speak about accelerating digital transformation while ensuring ongoing sustainability in operations and data management. DMI’s Regional Director Philip Carvalho was joined by customer Urs Hutter of AXA Investment Managers Switzerland who explained the financial and sustainability gains that his organization has achieved by implementing the JiVS Information Management Platform alongside SAP.

A sustainability-themed SAP community event

Cloud-based platform JiVS integrates with the SAP landscape as a sustainable solution for data migration, rightsizing, and application retirement. The DMI team attaches great importance to working closely with fellow SAP experts, partners, users, and the wider SAP community to collectively find better ways of doing things more efficiently and to drive our customers’ businesses forward. As sponsor of the UKISUG webinar on March 9 for SAP users in the UK, DMI was delighted to also have a speaker slot alongside presentations delivered by SAP on Tools for Sustainability as well as Customer Use Cases with Sustainability & EU Taxonomy. UKISUG organizes over 200 events per year, covering the entire SAP landscape, including in-person and online gatherings, and this particular sustainability-themed webinar was organized for the Enterprise Architect special interest group of SAP users.

Greener operations for ERP

SAP and DMI have a shared priority – enabling greener operations for ERP implementations. For some time now, SAP has been developing solutions that help companies enhance their sustainability activities: RISE with SAP enables companies to become intelligent and sustainable through cloud-based operations including the management of sustainability with company-wide transparency and controls. What’s more, SAP Cloud for Sustainable Enterprises allows customers to record, report, and act on their sustainability goals. Speaking to the UKISUG members online, Philip Carvalho explained how JiVS is a complementary solution that helps SAP customers reduce their digital footprint, their carbon emissions, their energy consumption, and the operational costs of their ERP landscape.

Companies can achieve all of this by simply transferring historical data from multiple legacy systems onto the JiVS platform, decommissioning their old systems, and migrating only open items and master data to S/4HANA.

How AXA Investment Managers Switzerland has reduced costs, data footprint, and CO2 emissions with JiVS

Customers are the best advocate for showing how a solution really makes a difference. Representing AXA Investment Managers Switzerland, Urs Hutter, Senior Project Manager Real Assets IT, shared insights with the webinar listeners into how the use of JiVS has led to massive cost savings and greater sustainability for his organization. “Over a period of ten years, we have saved around one million euros in operating costs. That adds up to approximately a third of what it costs to run our SAP systems in the Real Estate division – and all this after retiring just one system,” explains Urs. Lowering its carbon emissions and data footprint is a major priority for AXA Investment Managers Switzerland. DMI is currently working on the last of four SAP decommissioning projects for AXA, and reducing the number of applications and servers the company needs to operate goes a long way towards achieving its goals. During the webinar, Urs also told the UKISUG members how easy JiVS is to use, which led to quick and high acceptance among employees, as well as the fact that the company has reduced system maintenance requirements from 10 IT staff to just one half-day per month with JiVS. Rounding off his presentation, Urs made reference to the peace of mind he now has knowing that GDPR compliance is fully ensured, along with ability to call up historical information instantly. Feedback received following the virtual event was extremely positive. Throughout 2023, DMI will be attending numerous events for the SAP community in Europe and the USA, with the aim of building a more sustainable world together.
